Godzyk Orthodontics selects braces or invisalign to give you the bite, profile and smile that you will be proud of.
What age should treatment begin? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic examination as early as age seven. Early treatment can simplify the orthodontic process, help avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions, correct thumb-sucking, reduce the likelihood of impacted permanent teeth and more.
Thanks to today's smaller, less visible, more comfortable options, adults are finding braces and invisalign more appealing. Healthy teeth, bones and gums respond well to orthodontic treatment at almost any age. It's never too late to get a healthy, beautiful smile.
Treatment Expectations - Treatment usually lasts between 1 and 3 years.
- Appointments typically occur every 4 to 6 weeks.
- Diligent use of prescribed bands or headgear achieves the most efficient treatment.
- Some mild discomfort will be felt with orthodonture work.
- You will be thrilled with the results!
Treatment Options We work with our patients to determine the best course of treatment to meet their needs, so we offer a range of orthodontic options.
- Metal Braces: Metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel and are the most commonly used braces for orthodontic treatment. Today's braces are much smaller than in the past and are therefore more comfortable and attractive. Many patients like to dress up their braces with colored elastics that can be changed at each appointment.
- Ceramic Braces: Ceramic braces are made from a translucent, tooth-colored material and are most popular with adult patients because of their subtlety.
- Retainers: Some minor orthodontic problems can be corrected with retainers, which can be used on the upper and/or lower teeth.
- Invisalign: Invisalign is a treatment mechanism that uses a series of clear, removable appliances to solve a range of orthodontic issues. See [link to Invisalign page] for more details.
