Meet Dr. Godzyk

Transforming Lives, One Person and One Smile at a Time

Being an orthodontist is incredible: the profession allows me to improve people’s smiles, which increases their self-esteem and comfort around friends, peers, and colleagues. It is immensely rewarding to welcome someone new to the practice, often a person who feels uncomfortable with the appearance of their teeth, knowing I will be able to make a lasting change in their life.

Whether I am transforming a child’s, teen’s, or adult’s smile, I design treatment specific to the individual. Focusing on the person’s oral health and aesthetic concerns, I determine the ideal approach that ensures the best treatment experience and predictable, stable, and beautiful results.

Throughout the treatment journey, I have the opportunity to get to know each patient and their family. We share stories and develop a bond of trust and respect. By the end of their treatment, they have a beautifully healthy, confident smile – and we’ve become friends!

Education and Experience

I have practiced orthodontics since 1993, drawn to the oral healthcare field after interactions with my childhood dentist. Experiencing kind and compassionate dental care was inspiring: I wanted to share that experience with others.

I attended Eastern Oregon University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1985. I then attended the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry, completing my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1990 and Orthodontics Specialization in 1993.

Continuing Education and Professional Affiliations

While dental school and then an orthodontics residency gave me an excellent foundational understanding of my specialty, the field is constantly advancing. Throughout the year I complete many hours of continuing education – through meetings, lectures, seminars, and online processes – in order to stay current on the latest developments.

I am a member of the:

  • American Association of Orthodontists
  • Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists
  • American Dental Association
  • Oregon Dental Association
  • Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society

These organizations offer numerous opportunities for me to learn from leading researchers and practitioners. I carefully study the emerging research and trends, assess the newest technologies and techniques, and then incorporate the best into patient care.

Outside the Practice

I grew up in Diamond Bar, in Southern California, and have resided in West Linn with my family for many years. Barbara, my wife, and I married in 1994; we have three children, Catherine, Christina, and Andrew, along with two Pomeranians, Seraphina and Wolfie.

Our family loves our time together. You can often find us enjoying the outdoors, especially on our walks along the Willamette River. We also like hiking and riding bikes.

Giving Back

I am involved in Rotary and the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce, too. Being active in these local organizations allows me to interact with community businesses and support our community with volunteer work. I specifically appreciate that Rotary allows me to support individuals on their journey as incoming and outgoing foreign exchange students.
